This was created by Okada Saburosuke in 1927. Okada showed great interest in drawings by western artists. He managed to study in France from 1897 to 1902 under the scholarship of Japan’s Ministry of Education. When Okada returned to Japan, he became professor at the Tokyo Fine Arts School (now the Tokyo University of the Arts, a national university).
One of his early drawings is “Checking an arrow” created in 1893.
