Shiwasu, the twelfth month under the old Japanese lunar calendar

Shiwasu literally means something like “a teacher runs”. The last month is busy not only for teachers but also for almost everybody else. The yearend day especially used to be the time to clean one’s home thoroughly, prepare the season’s special foods, get women’s hair done, watch song contests on TV and so on. Things have changed a lot these days: many supermarkets and almost all convenience stores are open even on New Year’s Day, this all means that there is no need to rush. Here are some photos for December from my album.
