On Tuesday, July 1, 2014, my wife and I went to Mount Mitake in the western part of Metropolitan Tokyo. After a six-minute cable car ride and about a half hour walk, we came to a revered Shinto shrine atop the mountain, which is 929 meters above sea level. Incidentally, on our way to the cable car station we passed "Gyokudo Art Gallery", which dsiplays the works of a master landscape painter, Gyokudo Kawai (1873-1957).
