The month of May is called "Satsuki" in the old Japanese lunar calendar. Satsuki literally means the month of planting rice. The vivid green scenery is everywhere to welcome you.

The two photos were taken at  "Yakusi-ike" park in Machida city, Metropolitan Tokyo on May 5, 2022.  

The preparation for rice planting was underway in the Jike countryside, northern Yokohama on May 24, 2022. Ducks play an important role of eating weeds and delivering droppings, which will lessen the amount of pesticides and chemical fertilizers used.
